Port Elliot, Middleton and Milang each have their own distinctive characters and communities, while sharing commonalities through their coastal and lakeside amenity, environmental qualities, and attractiveness as places to live and visit.

Jensen PLUS undertook an integrated master planning process for these three separate towns. Each master plan was informed by co-design workshops in 2022 to ensure community insights and ideas were included.

This approach to the master plans emphasises a ‘Place Plan’ approach, where targeted public realm, strategy and policy objectives are prioritised to seek achievable projects for delivery.

For Port Elliot, new concepts for The Strand (pictured) as a people-focussed promenade were tested alongside other street design and parking options. Comparable streetscape ideas were also developed for the other towns.

Strategic objectives were not forgotten, with urban development, road improvement and car parking strategies developed with the input of transport planners at Stantec.

Through a series of place-based actions across the three towns we hope that the overarching vision for Alexandrina’s communities will be realised: Liveable, Green, and Connected.
