Charleston is a small town in the Adelaide Hills. Charleston Community Centre is community owned, and acts as a hub for local recreation and community connections. Jensen PLUS is proud to have collaborated with Charleston Community Centre Incorporated to review and enhance the social infrastructure provided by the Centre.
The project sought first to understand how effectively the Centre meets community needs, before identifying opportunities for future development. Jensen PLUS contributed by assessing strategic goals, investigating necessary facilities and services, identifying potential new amenities, exploring funding options, establishing partnerships, and preparing an implementation plan.
Concepts include improved tennis courts, new garden beds and biodiversity plantings, hall upgrades, new BBQs, water and art features, and improved access. We created an illustrative master plan that encapsulates the vision, with active involvement from the community committee throughout. The study has provided Charleston Community Centre Incorporated with a strategic plan to better serve its community today, and to plan for future growth.
