Jensen PLUS supported a team, led by Studio Nine Architects, to upgrade the building and landscapes at Millswood Croquet Club in Adelaide’s inner-south.
Our team provided statutory planning and landscape architectural services to assist the City of Unley in the redevelopment of this community asset. The redevelopment comprised a single building which was located on a new site within the Millswood Sporting Complex grounds.
Jensen PLUS provided planning policy inputs to the design, which included articulating the local character and context of the Historic Conservation Area in which the site sits.
Other planning considerations included creating a clubroom facility which met the needs of the club while maintaining the spacious garden setting of the locality, the built form character of the neighbourhood, and designing sympathetically around a large Norfolk Island Pine tree (a Significant Tree under South Australia’s tree protection laws).
We also prepared a landscape concept plan to accompany the Development Application, and later detailed landscape designs.
New landscaping around the building includes pathways that provide easy accessibility, and plantings that enhance the green setting, screen car parking, and of course a landscape that does not compromise the playing surface of the croquet green!
