The Masterplan and Development Plan Amendment built on earlier planning for Monarto South in 2013, including feedback received from the community at that time.
Locations were provided for specific initiatives and their integration including:
- expansion of existing manufacturing industries
- transfer of goods between road and rail (an intermodal terminal)
- a future airport or airfield
- protection of Monarto Zoo and promoting tourism
- native vegetation and wildlife corridors
- new Conservation Parks
- private development
- environmental and other improvements to the township area.
The Masterplan also focused on the interface between the ‘Enterprise Precinct’ and nearby rural and residential properties.
