Jensen PLUS prepared sporting hub masterplans for four sites in the Southern Barossa region, to manage expected growth in sport and recreation use.
Sports incorporated into the masterplans include football (AFL), netball, rugby, tennis, athletics and cricket. Club rooms, tourist accommodation and special events infrastructure were also accommodated for some sites.
Collaborative workshops helped generate the preferred masterplan options, with sporting clubs - more used to operating individually - meeting together to address common problems. Each site’s masterplan was evaluated against multiple criteria including cost estimates.
Overall, the achieved objective of the project was the provision of a strategic yet practical blueprint for club sport in the Southern Barossa, prepared in close collaboration with The Barossa Council.
